Hi all,

Happy holidays! This is a busy time for all of us, and taking the time to sit down to read a blog, let alone write one, often gets eclipsed by time spent with colleagues and family, but we must forge on! The Zappos LEAF team had a really fun, active fall and fostered some new relationships that are important for our industry and the environment. Read below at some of our many accomplishments ...

SUSTAINABLE APPAREL COALITION MEMBERSHIP Zappos proudly became a member of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) this fall. For those of you unfamiliar with this amazing organization, the SAC states its origins as: “In 2009, Walmart, America’s biggest retailer and Patagonia, one of the world’s most progressive brands, came together with a radical mission: Collect peers and competitors from across the apparel, footwear and textile sector and together, develop a universal approach to measuring sustainability performance.” In 2015 there are now more than 350 members comprised of the world’s leading brands, retailers, manufacturers, academics, affiliates, government agencies and NGOs working for you, the consumer, to bring you the most sustainable products possible.

CONSERVATION ALLIANCE MEMBERSHIP Zappos proudly became a member of the Conservation Alliance this fall. I really cannot summarize the organization better than they can. Here are a few words from their website.

“The Conservation Alliance seeks to protect threatened wild places throughout North America for their habitat and recreational values. As a group of outdoor industry companies, we recognize our responsibility to help protect the wild lands and waterways on which our customers recreate and wildlife thrives. We support the most effective conservation organizations in North America. Since inception in 1989, Conservation Alliance funding has helped save more than 44 million acres of wildlands, protect 2,945 miles of rivers, stop or remove 26 dams, designate five marine reserves and purchase 10 climbing areas. We are pleased to announce the results of our Summer 2015 funding cycle. We funded 19 projects, for a total of $790,000.”

UPDATED LEAF TEAM LOGO We’re excited about the design of our new LEAF logo and the vast assortment of fabulous colors. The simple, patch-style logo reminds the team of our passion for the outdoors and home in the Desert Southwest. The 11,915 ft. Mt. Charleston on the west side of Las Vegas is fully snow capped right now! We’ve been giving away a few LEAF logo stickers on Twitter, so check in to see if you can pick one up too!

That’s it for now, and for 2015. In the meantime, be sure to check out more awesome news from LEAF at Zappos.com/LEED, Twitter: @ZapposLEAF and on Instagram: Zappos_LEAF
